Floor Sticky After Staining

The only time i ve seen tacky floors after more than a week is when a very old floor which has been waxed for years is finished with a solvent based coating.

Don t leave that cloth sitting around after. Stain becomes sticky on a wooden surface because it doesn t have a binder such as you find in paint or varnish. The remaining stain will come off. After 5 15 minutes wipe off the excess evenly and consistently.

When the solvent evaporates all that remains is the pigment and the oil that is. We have known for years that steam is a great cleaner and since it is just vaporized water it is safe to use on most types of flooring.
